Honda CB550 Cafe Racer from Lossa Engineering

Wow. Wow. Hmmmm. Yeah.

This Honda CB550 is sweet. I was reduced to single syllables when I first saw the pictures of it. I think I may have seen it before on eBay, but it is still so beautiful even this second time around. While not as classically understated and true to the original as maybe bikes from Steve “Carpy” Carpenter, Lossa Engineering seems to build cafe racers with a lot of “look at me” to go along with the cafe styling.

Reserve is nowhere near met at its current bid of $1,125, but you could have a lot of fun bidding right now and not run too much risk of actually winning the bike for a couple more thousand dollars at least. This is a beautiful bike that seems like a no-brainer to buy if you have the money.

Honda CB550 Cafe Racer (and more…)

I found this CB550 on Google, and it turned out that the site hosting it was a whole lot more than just pictures of this bike. The bike itself is very cool with a beautiful paint job, and an overall nice aesthetic quality to it (check out the speedo insert). Clubman bars and a great seat mostly complete the look, but it really needs some nice rear-sets to complete the build.

What I found more interesting was that the couple who own this shop in central Washington state used to be locals at Alice’s Restaurant in mountains above San Francisco Bay. They supposedly had a shop adjacent to the restaurant, and were part of the scene for a few years until moving the shop up to Wahington, and creating this moto-destination. A motel, the motorcycle shop, a market, and a gas station make this a potential stop-over on a criss-cross Cascades ride, or even a destination unto itself as they also rent dual-sports and cruisers in conjunction with a local shop.

Visit their site (timberlinemotorsports.com) and show them some love both for the nice cafe racer build and for the creation of a motorcycle-friendly spot in the far northwest…

Stock 1976 Honda CB550

I almost feel bad posting this bike. It is so clean, that it feels kinda wrong to suggest that this would be a great start to a cafe racer project. It would almost be like being in 1976 and starting the project with a super clean CB550.

Check it out. Not sure what it will close at, but it has only 1 bid right now ($500). Reserve isn’t met yet. Even if you didn’t convert it into a cafe racer, it would be a great collector’s bike…
