1963 BSA B40 Project Bike

Here’s a nice little project bike that is already generating some interest in bids. It’s a 1963 BSA B40 that has been outfitted with a B44 motor. It is in need of finishing (hence Project Bike in the title of the post), but appears to be a relatively easy bike to complete. The seller claims the engine is running with all wiring in place, but I would ask questions before buying this bike.

Luckily, you have lots of time to ask questions as there are still over 6 days left in the auction. The price has already gone above $400 from a starting price $1, although reserve has not been met. And there are three people bidding so far. Perhaps this little beezer will generate a fair bit of interest…

Another Not-Quite-Complete Cafe Racer Build (1973 Honda CB750)

I think this bike is from the same seller as the one I posted yesterday. It is a really clean build of a Honda CB750 being advertised as a cafe racer. But we all know better right? Just a cafe racer seat does not make a bike a cafe racer. As with the CB750 from yesterday, add bars and rearsets to this bike, and you would have an instant conversion. The seller/builder has already added a nice Giuliari-style seat, so this shouldn’t be too difficult.

Other features of the build include a long list of new and/or updated parts including Dyna ignition, Barnett clutch, Yoshimura header, and lots of other stuff. There are many pictures in the listing if you are interested, but the bidding isn’t particularly active right now with only 1 bid at the starting price of $2,500 and a Buy-It-Now of $4,500. 1992 Harley-Davidson Sportster Cafe Racer

It’s been a while since I posted a Harley, and this is certainly a pretty well put together cafe racer made out of a Sportster. This has one of the fullest conversions I’ve seen on a US Sporty, and I really like it. I’ve listed below nearly all of the stuff that the seller put in his listing (The bad and the good), so I won’t go on too long about this bike. As with all Sportsters, this bike shows how hard it is to get the seat right. For some reason, these bikes always seem to have such a low seating position that it can’t be good for handling or comfortable to sit on (knees have got to be ablaze after a matter of 30 minutes or so).

Anyways, good luck to anyone who bids on this bike. It seems to be one of the better solid-mount Sportster conversions, and surprisingly, there are no bids yet with two days left. Maybe it is the $3,800 starting price? We’ll see when it ends…

2006 Suzuki GSXR1000 Street Fighter

Every once in a while I post a street fighter. Is this a street fighter? Almost. It surely goes like it has a fire lit under its arse. But it is missing one key piece of kit – a superbike bar kit. If you are lucky enough to win this bike at the end of the auction, the first thing I would do is contact Spiegler USA or any one of the many other companies selling handlebar kits for the GSXR1000 (most of which are just selling the Spiegler riser plus bars) and get rid of thy clip-ons. And add a fender before you put a rock through either the radiator or oil cooler!

Oh, think of the wheelies. Think of the mayhem. Think of the pure, unadulterated hooliganism that will happen!!!

Honda CB750 Project

Look, I’m not saying that this is a perfect bike from a cafe perspective. Not hardly. All I am saying is that this might be a cost-effective starting point for a cafe project. Throw a seat on there. Maybe some clubmans (or clip-ons if you’re really trying to get on my good side). Mount a pair of rear-sets. Call it day. And you have yourself a pretty nice cafe racer. Some basic motor mods have already been done, so you shouldn’t be smoked by that stock-looking CB750 sitting next to you at the corner of 1st and Main.

Price is reasonable with only about 1.5 days left. This would make a nice cafe with only a little work…

(Oh yeah, I forgot in my original post. I really, really like the brass knuckle decals!!! 😉 (And it needs shocks. My bad.) )
