2004? Harley Davidson Sportster – Full Cafe!!!

I’m contacting the seller about this bike to try to get more details and more photos. If this is, in fact, a 2004 Sportster, then it is the first full conversion (including tank but minus some cool 18″ wheels) that I’ve seen. A tank like that is exactly what I want to do to my bike. I’ll post updates as I get them.

BTW, the reason I’m not sure about the year is the oil tank. I can’t tell from the photos, but it is either a 2003 tank (non-flush oil filler cap) or it is a 2004 tank with the side cover removed. If anyone has an opinion, please let me know…

I’m pretty sure I know the guy who put that together. The guy’s a freak of nature talent. He’s got a suzuki t500 cafe mongrel that’s waaay cool. There was a burley gnar-gnar ZRX for sale out in sequim that he’d put together, but I couldn’t get off my fat ass fast enough to get. I’ll see if I can post a picture of his t500. I’ll ask about the oil tank on the sportster.

I would love to hear more about this bike. I sent an eBay message to the seller, but heard nothing back…

based on the oil tank, and rear master brake cylinder, it looks like a solid mount sporty, so 2003 is the latest year it could be. storz performance makes the tank, the clipons and rearsets are made by a guy named chainsikle, supertrapp makes the exhaust, the front forks are off of a 1200s, the rear forks look to be progressive 412’s in 15″ length. he also has done a chain conversion (from the stock belt), and it looks to be a custom seat or one for maybe a triumph. the front fender is also chromed, but appears to be stock. overall, he did an excellent job on this bike. ive been building my 1999 sportster 1200 as a cafe racer for several years now and have many of the same parts. if you like this bike, you should really check out the cafe racer section over at xlforum.net. there is a ton of info on cafe’d sporty’s there. ill be posting updated pics of my bike over the next few days, as it is currently undergoing major modifications. look for me there, my user name is kielbryant. or if you have any questions, feel free to email me directly.

Wow. That’s a great piece of work. I’m by no means an HD man, but love that thing. I was checking out the Honda cafe racer you had a while back, and was pretty convinced that Honda would be the only bike worth this kind of treatment, but really, thing is a beaut.
